We are very happy to announce that DSC has found a new home: Tech Target (Nasdaq: TTGT), the global leader in purchase intent-driven marketing and sales services, has a 20 year history of creating high-quality editorial content across more than 140 highly-targeted technology-specific websites. The acquisition was recently announced here and it will help propel Data Science Central to the next level, both in terms of quality content and positive community experience.
DSC brings considerable experience in managing community-based web properties focused on machine learning, AI, BI, and related fields, leveraging social networks for the benefit of bloggers, readers, and advertisers, with 370k followers on Twitter, over 500k members on LinkedIn groups and a large member base on DSC itself (two million visits per quarter and over 180k registered members). Tech Target has considerable expertise developing and deploying new media products and content for a tech-oriented audience, across various properties including
The marriage benefits both of us, and the announcement has been well received on both sides. Bloggers on DSC will be able continue to post articles as usual on the same platform with the same features and editorial process, and the quality of the content will remain high.
DSC was founded in 2012 by Tim Matteson and Vincent Granville. Before, it was known as AnalyticBridge.com, founded in 2008, and the website is still active today. Another DSC property, AnalyticTalent.com, serving hiring managers and job seekers in data science, has been in existence for over 12 years. Additional channels were added over time, focusing on Hadoop, HPC, dataviz, big data and so on. More recently, DSC has also started to offer high-quality (free) books available to members only, and will continue to work with data science leaders to produce more books in the future.
Tim brings considerable experience in sales, formerly with IEEE. Vincent is a former postdoc in statistical science (Cambridge University, UK), executive data scientist with consulting roles at eBay, Microsoft, Visa, NBCi, CNET, Wells Fargo, and broad domain expertise both vertically and horizontally across multiple industries (media, finance, security, Internet). Vincent is as former VC-funded executive for a fraud detection startup, author and patent owner.
The entire DSC team has joined TechTarget and the site will continue to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary. Personally, I’m excited to continue to publish new articles and books on the DSC website, possibly even more so as I will have more time to focus on writing, one of my favorite passions. The website will stay unchanged, and we will remain committed to providing the best online experience possible for our readers and contributors.
