We humans have evolved from chasing prey with stones for living to chasing train / bus for living. During this period we have discovered , developed or revolutionized many aspects to make our live better. We have gone through working as a farmer full time to Industries worker and there were millions of niche jobs that have been abandoned by advancement of technologies and is still on the verge of risk by the next Industrial Revolution AI.
Prior to the Industrial Revolution back in 70s, most of the workforce was employed in agriculture, either as self-employed farmers as landowners or tenants, or as landless agricultural laborers. It was common for families in various parts of the world to spin yarn, weave cloth and make their own clothing. Households also spun and wove for market production.
Artificial Intelligence have been growing rapidly and is already showing its progress more than ever. So, do we have to be scared of losing job to automation?
Let’s see some stats here:
- The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) predicts that the growth of industrial robots will accelerate on average by 14% every year between 2020 and 2021
- In 2016, the number of industrial robots was 1.83 million and experts predict that by 2020 it will reach 3.05 million.
- By the mid 2030s up to 30% of jobs could be automatize.
- Between 2001 and 2015, technology had displaced over 800,000 jobs in the UK alone.
- 20 million manufacturing jobs will be lost to automation by 2030
- In 2018, the sales of medical robots increased by 48% compared to the previous year
According to PwC, besides the sectors mentioned above — generally, people with lower levels of education will be more likely to have to switch jobs. Higher-educated employees tend to adapt more easily to technological changes, which will allow more of them to remain in the same line of work.
The thing is, the Drone operator will also be losing their job, once the drone is fully automated!
Talking about loss, what type’s of jobs are in Danger, within this decade?
Especially if you’re working in any of the vulnerable sectors such as:
- financial services
- transportation or construction
- and hospitality
Repeatable task-based jobs are likely to be the first to be automated. AI excels at pattern recognition, performing sequenced tasks faster and with higher accuracy than human workers. Based on the nature, type and amount of training required for these jobs, AI machines are most likely to perform these jobs in the coming years:
- Book Keeping clerk
- Computer support specialist
- Market Research analyst
- Security Guards
- Drone Operator
And the list goes on….
But, the plot is the creation of fully sensible robots that can perform any human task.
Do humans have to sit down and serve robots? Here’s the catch.
Humans has always been an intelligent creature on this planet. Our intelligence has always been growing and tend to grow even more. Even if we created an intelligent robots that can outsmart us on any work. It will not be for replacing humans, the intelligence will be used for new research and innovation. Probably solving the real world problems and exploring space and even earth. Perhaps until unless it’s done by the right people.
There are still things to be discovered yet.
- What is the universe made of?
- How did life begin?
- Are we alone in the universe?
- Are there other universes?
- Possibility of Time travel
- Curation of Cancer
- Bottom of the Ocean
- How do we solve the over population and pollution
- Climate change crisis
- Efficient energy production
and the list goes on………….
These are things where AI will boost our research.
And the next thing.
33% of new jobs in the United States are for occupations that did not exist 25 years ago.
- App Developer
- Web Developer
- Data Scientist
- Computer Operator
- Virtual Assistant
- Social Media Manager
Artificial Intelligence alone will create a million of jobs.
A person shouldn’t depend themselves only on one skill , a person having self-awareness , cognitive skills has an ability to learn new skills and work in different fields. A person should always adapt new technological changes and should always invest in their personal development. That’s the purpose of Education. If you have already faced loss or on the verge to loose your job. No matter what you are, you can do one thing. And that’s never stop learning. Learn new things and grow. That’s how we evolved and will always do the same.
Advancement of such an intelligence will also peak out Human intelligence more than ever.
Life in Great Britain during the Industrial Revolution underwent rapid social and economic changes due to the developments of mechanized working methods based, in part, on the factory system and the steam engine. As a result, work became more regimented, disciplined, and moved outside the home. Large segments of the rural population migrated to the cities, causing dramatic lifestyle changes.
Thus Revolution of such an intelligence will also improve the quality of our life and standard of living.
