Semtech a supplier of analogue and mixed signal semiconductors and algorithms, said that Swedish IoT systems integrator Iioote is updating its WebIoT platform and SenseIoT system for water leakage detection and prevention in homes and businesses. The system uses Semtech LoRa devices and LoRaWAN protocol with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms to detect mould and humidity in sites at risk throughout a building.
Robert Spertina, CEO at Iioote, said industries are responsible for up to 22 percent of global water consumption and leaks represent a prominent and expensive problem for businesses and property owners. He said Iioote’s WebIoT platform with added AI used in SenseIoT extends coverage from smart home to industrial and commercial applications. Addressing utility waste offers customers a strong return on investment (ROI) by improving their efficiency.
Iioote consulted with insurance companies, water and sewage utilities to expand its range of wireless LoRa-based water leakage detection products. The enhanced SenseIoT applications monitor for abnormalities in humidity, and can be deployed in pipes, water meters and pumps for large buildings and industrial stations, as well as basements and bathrooms in homes.
