    Description

Lovely antique double-sided (topsy turvy) French boudoir doll from the art deco era 1920s / 1930s. Hand painted silk cloth faces, original costumes (including taffeta, organza / sateen, lace, and ribbon), silk floss hair, and cotton body / arms. They measure approximately 16" long, from the top of one head to the top of the other half. In overall good condition for their age and they show well, but please read the full description and view photos for more information.
The blond half of this doll features a costume (all in taffeta / sateen) with an ivory blouse, a light green skirt (with matching faint ombre ruffle), a peach apron trimmed with ribbon, a floral organza shawl trimmed with ivory lace, and an original matching bow / poms on the sides of her braid, which has ribbon woven into it. Her face paint is beautiful, with lovely blue eyes, rosy cheeks, and a rosebud mouth. The brunette half has a dress consisting of an ivory / light gold dress with peach ombre ruffles all in taffeta / sateen , and a rosy shawl (trimmed with black and gold ribbon). Her face features blue / green eyes and she has an original bow on the black braided bun on her left side (she features buns on each side).
Please note the following description as to their condition (see photos for more details):
The blond half has a watermark / light stain on the back of her dress, approximately 3"; her right arm has become unsewn under her costume but is still contained by her sleeve; her braid and wig are still intact with minimal floss that has come loose, but can be smoothed down by hand; minimal rubbing to her nose and neck. The brunette half has a small dark smudge on the front of her costume, approximately 1/4" by 1/2"; again, her braided buns and wig are intact with some floss that has come loose but can be smoothed down; some rubbing to her nose, forehead, chin, and neck. Most of their original eyelashes are missing.
This is a rare, sweet bed doll which makes a wonderful collectible.
