Description
Daisy & Button Canary color Vaseline Glass 4” tumbler Hobbs Brockunier pattern 101. This beautiful example of uranium Vaseline or Canary color glass measures approx. 4” tall and approx. 3” across the top. The glass glows green under black light and is in very good antique condition with no chips or cracks. There is a shear or “straw” mark on the ground and polished bottom edge which is fairly normal in EAPG glass of this age. The pattern was first made by J.H. Hobbs Brockunier & Co. Glass in 1884 as its 101 pattern. The tumbler pattern was also made by many others including Duncan, Central and Beatty glass companies. U.S. Glass re-issued the tumblers after the companies became part of the U.S. Glass Company Trust group in 1891. Hobbs ceased to exist in Wheeling, WV by 1893 when it closed, and the glassworks was eventually (1902) purchased by Harry Northwood who had been an employee.
