  • Condition: The cheeks of the white doll have indentations from being bumped, one is more indented than the other as can be seen in the accompanying photos. The tip of the nose has some wear and is pushed in just a bit. The face overall shows a bit of toning from age and light soiling. The cloth of the hands shows some darkening from age.The cheeks on the black doll side have some indentations from being bumped and the nose has been a bit pushed. On the left cheek (the doll's left but the viewer's right), there is a tiny sign of a break in the fabric but it is tight.Numerous straight pins have been used to secure the clothing at various points on both sides of the doll. These appear to be how the doll was originally made. I have not made any attempt to pull any of the pins out as they look to be original and I do not want to take anything apart and then not be able to put it back as it was originally.

    Description

Topsy Turvy Bruckner doll, 14 inches tall. Two dolls in one: a white doll or a black doll depending on which way you turn the doll. Each side has a mask type face on which are printed the features. When turned so that the face of the white doll shows, the doll wears a plaid dress and bonnet and a white apron with a white ruffle at the neck. The cheeks of the white doll have indentations from being bumped, one is more indented than the other as can be seen in the accompanying photos. The tip of the nose has some wear and is pushed in just a bit. The face overall shows a bit of toning from age and light soiling. The cloth of the hands shows some darkening from age.
When turned so that the face of the black doll shows, the doll wears a plaid skirt, a white apron, a red top that extends in the back up over the hair. A white cotton scarf is over the red cloth on the head. The cheeks on this side have some indentations from being bumped and the nose has been a bit pushed. On the left cheek (the doll's left but the viewer's right), there is a tiny sign of a break in the fabric but it is tight. She wears red hair ribbons in her wavy black mohair hair. The brown fabric of her hands is in very nice condition.
Numerous straight pins have been used to secure the clothing at various points on both sides of the doll. These appear to be how the doll was originally made. I have not made any attempt to pull any of the pins out as they look to be original and I do not want to take anything apart and then not be able to put it back as it was originally.
The colors of the face and hands on the black doll side are excellent, much better than on the white doll side which, as mentioned above, are a bit faded on the face and darkened on the hands. The colors of the clothing are excellent and are equal on both sides of the doll.
