AI and machine learning network Fetch.ai is inviting developers and software testers to take part in its incentivized testnet program – which will be launching next week on October 22, 2020.

The Fetch.ai team noted that their goal is to develop the infrastructure needed for autonomous software agents to “unlock the value trapped in wasted data, and organize complex tasks to benefit individuals, businesses and organizations.”

The Fetch.ai developers noted that they’re working toward achieving these objectives by establishing a connective layer with a “decentralized” network with open-source software tools that will “give anyone access to the power of AI on a world-scale secure dataset to carry out complex coordination in the modern economy.”

As noted in a blog post by Fetch.ai, the platform’s developers will be working on a program of different activities that will allow developers and software specialists to test the technology for the Fetch.ai mainnet Version 2.0.

The Fetch.ai development team confirmed that the FET smart contract upgrade was completed successfully on October 14, 2020. They also mentioned that the launch of the platform’s updated staking contract was finalized on October 15, 2020.

The developers noted:

“Having achieved these milestones, Fetch.ai is now on the optimal pathway to mainnet v2.0 scheduled for early 2021.”

They added that several incentivized testnets (test networks) will commence later this month. They aim to “demonstrate new and enhanced functionality and reward those helping to exercise activities such as agent deployment, node operation and voting to demonstrate and refine decentralized governance.”

As explained by Fetch.ai, the testnets will help develop the functionality needed for Mainnet v2.0. The developers noted that mainnet v2 “represents the integration of fundamental components in the Fetch.ai system for the first time.”

For instance, it will include the following:

  • Interoperability — delivery of services across compatible chains, and a process + roadmap to incorporate the rest of the web 3.0 ecosystem
  • Full agent framework integrated into mainnet to enable AEA build and deployment
  • New CosmWasm virtual machine and improved high performance ledger

For those interested in taking part in the testnet process for Fetch.ai and learning more about how the process works, check here. The Fetch.ai team said they “anticipate starting” this particular incentivized testnet process on Thursday October 22, 2020.

Participants must be “able to sign a message showing you have ERC20 FET tokens staked: so if you wish to get prepared to take part and qualify for rewards, then get over to https://staking.fetch.ai.”
